In 2001 the Towns of Camborne and Redruth and the Parishes of Illogan and Carn Brea sign an agreement to work towards forging closer cultural ties with Pachuca, Real del Monte and the State of Hidalgo, Mexico. In 2007 the Town Council of Redruth voted to formerly twin with the town of Real del Monte and the Town Council of Camborne voted to twin with the City of Pachuca. In addition educational links are being developed between schools in the four municipalities.

The Agreement to work towards forming closer links between the City of Pachuca and the town of Real del Monte, Hidalgo State, Mexico and the District of Kerrier, Towns of Redruth and Camborne and the Parishes of Carn Brea and Illogan.

The Agreement was signed by on behalf of the State of Hidalgo, City of Pachuca and Town of Real del Monte by State Minister Snr. Jorge Romero and on behalf of Camborne, Redruth and the Parishes by: Mrs. Wendy Lawrence (Chairman Kerrier District Council); Mr. Len Pascoe (Mayor of Redruth); Tony Bunce (Chairman Camborne Town Council); Mrs. Diane Cousins (Chairman Carn Bea Parish Council); Mr. Graham Ford (Chairman Illogan Parish Council) on 4th February 2001. The meeting was organised by Richard Williams and Roger Clotworthy, founders of the Cornish Mexican Society.
